Duffin Creek Outfall Update

This issue is still very much alive but somewhat overshadowed by Line 9 at the moment. Here is a brief summary of developments.

At the Council Meeting following the Public Information Forums, Council rejected the report which recommended the duckbill diffusers. The vote is to the right. The remaining councillors were not present.

Ajax Mayor Parish indicated that he would bring forth a motion to do an additional study to try to define and detail the  causes of the algae along the Lake Ontario shore.

However Commissioner Curtis made it abundantly clear at the Works Committee on March 20 that he was still stuck on 'dilution as the solution'.

Last week the consultant team answered some of the questions put forward at the PIFs but they sidestepped the issue of tertiary treatment.
