Pickering Airport

Although this is a very old problem going back more than 40 years to 1972, it is also a very current threat as the federal government continues to demolish a few houses every year and the Greater Toronto Airport Authority (GTAA) still maintains that an airport will still be necessary - someday (their latest estimates extend to 2030 and beyond)

When the airport was first brought forward by the federal government, the local residents rose up and wrestled it to a stalemate which continues to this day. The organization that led the charge in those early days was People or Planes, but they have now been replaced by Land over Landings. They have and excellant website: http://www.landoverlandings.com.
